A Founder's (Brief) Story

As an adult, like a lot of us, I became more and more disconnected with nature and the outdoors. I worked in an office and drove a car to my job. When I traveled, I slept in a hotel (of course). Not exactly Mother Nature’s daughter - and a far cry from the way I grew up; camping, hiking, roadtripping.
As the years rolled by, something dormant awakened. I craved that lost connection to nature again. To feel a certain nourishment only Mother Nature could provide; spending time in the warm sunshine. Listening to birds to calm anxiety and watching butterflies and hummingbirds flitter and float. Making the conscious effort to eat more food that came from the ground, or earth - not from a box.
That somehow developed into wanting to also live a life more sustainably. I couldn’t ignore the awareness of just how much waste our modern lives produced.

It started with cleaning products. What was inside the bright bottles of those tried and true cleaning products? And what was normal about using something regularly that had such strong odors it required you to open a window while using, for your safety?

I began researching alternatives; vinegar, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and, Castile soap. Stuff mostly already in the cabinets. More cost effective, cleaner and ingredients that were just as effective, and somewhat of a space saver (I still purchased a few spray bottles to make glass cleaner and a vinegar spritz).
Then, cloth napkins replaced paper napkins (thanks to the pandemic), and dish towels became the norm to dry produce and soak up spills. Bar shampoo, bar soap. Toothpaste tablets and deodorant cream in a glass jar.

I’ve been consciously making more sustainable choices for my home and everyday life for at least 10 years.
But travel? I still used the those plastic trial / travel sized toiletries. Because, what else was there? Why didn’t a more cohesive sustainable solution exist?
The answer was right in front me!

I had previously launched a small business called Good Spark. A curated marketplace of products made by small independent makers. When I traveled for a weekend getaway, I brought some products from my inventory with me - toothpaste tablets, the Wildland mini super bar, deodorant cream packs. Some soap slices from the Wander and Wash Pocket Soap. The usual. These products were perfect! They were clean, sustainable and it was amazing how little space they took up in my bag and in the places we stayed. That's when I realized a better way existed.

I turned Good Spark into EverFar....

And the rest is history. Thank you for being apart of this journey to not only explore beyond the walls of your home, but to do it more sustainably. Traveling soon? I hope EverFar becomes a regular part of your travel routine as well. Let me know how it goes! - Lisa Founder, EverFar
